The anniversary edition of the Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright was released as a solution to Hoover's previous problems. Did the Hoover UH40020 WindTunnel Bagless solve them, or is it just marketing? Read on to find out.
The Dirt Finder sensor is once again used, as it has proven a valuable aid in the fight against dust and dirt. The green light will let you know when an area is finally clean, and you can move on.
By cleverly ducting away dirt particles from the spinning agitators to ensure they’re captured in the bagless dirt cup, the vacuum pick up more dirt than other vacuums, and this technology is called Wind Tunnel by Hoover.
The 12 amp motor provides plenty of power, and the HEPA filter ensures that all alergens and dust particles are collected from your carpets.
It has a 31 feet power cord which is more than enough for rooms of all sizes, and the large cleaning path means you have to vacuum less, to clean a large sized room, than you would with another vacuum.
The Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright is considered to be a better vacuum than previous models, mainly due to the better build quality and the extra accessories that this comes with.
Suction power
The 12 amp motor is more than enough for most users, as the suction power provided is much more than users were expecting from it. Users warn others that for this suction power to remain the same, the filter must be cleaned after every use, or the dust will gather and seriously reduce its effectiveness.
Noise level and build quality
Users report that the noise level is quite high, and they don't think they'll ever get used to it. It seems that Hoover has started learning from its mistakes, and this vacuum no longer suffers from the same build quality problems that previous models had. Users also have a problem with the auto-cleaning HEPA filter which is prone to breaking, and the messy cleaning process still remains a problem.
Features
The cord length is more than enough for all users, and even large rooms are easily cleaned without moving the vacuum to a different plug. Users find the Dirt Finder sensor to be excellent, and report that it really functions and knows precisely when a carpet is finally clean.
Conclusion
The Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright brings a couple of extra accesories and a new look, which wouldn't have made a difference to users who were used to the poor build quality of previous models. However, Hoover seems to have fixed this, and now has only the belt problem to fix.

- I'm giving this a 4 star only because I thought the pet-hair tool would be more heavy duty. I can only use it on my cushions and pillows and you need it to be perfectly flat on the surface. But it definitely works!
- It is not as loud as my last one and the suction is great!
- I love that it has a handle to spin clean the filter rather than taking the filter out.
- A great buy!!!
Heavy and Powerful

My apartment has new carpet and my boyfriend's parent's 25 year old vacuum would just blow carpet fuzz all over the place. So we knew we needed a new powerful vacuum. That is exactly what this vacuum is. It's powerful and sucks up a ton of the new carpet fuzz. It is heavy but since I only have an apartment, that hasn't been a problem. And on non-carpeted floors, the dirt blows back at your feet and shins since there is no roller shut off. I found that using one the the brush attachments is the best way to clean my bathroom and kitchen floors since those areas are small.
Really nice vacuum cleaner

no way to turn off brush. on hard floors the dirt just goes flying under the vac out the back end. Stupid people at hoover. make a button to make the brush variable speed. u need very slow speed on a hard floor or even on persian carpets. also it doesnt have the suction of a dyson.
OK, not great

I was looking for a vacuum than would handle the "let's get rid of our winter coats NOW" shedding of my long haired cats. This vacuum does an good job on the carpets, but is disappointing on bare floors. Like nearly every vacuum I've ever owned, it spits dirt out the back and on to my feet and legs, so I have to vacuum over the same areas several times as well as making sure I'm wearing long pants and socks when I vacuum. I like the big dust cup and bottom empty, but the pet-hair tool has lost it's power after just a couple of weeks. Overall, not a bad vacuum for the price but it could be better.
