The Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright is another self propelled vacuum from Hoover, which offers a longer cable to those who needed it.
The Dirt Finder sensor is once again used, as it has proven a valuable aid in the fight against dust and dirt. The green light will let you know when an area is finally clean, and you can move on.
By cleverly ducting away dirt particles from the spinning agitators to ensure they’re captured in the bagless dirt cup, the vacuum pick up more dirt than other vacuums, and this technology is called Wind Tunnel by Hoover.
The 12 amp motor provides plenty of power, and the HEPA filter ensures that all allergens and dust particles are collected from your carpets.
It has a 35 feet power cord which is more than enough for rooms of all sizes, and the large cleaning path means you have to vacuum less, to clean a large sized room, than you would with another vacuum.
The Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright is generally considered a poor vacuum by most of its users, as they've all had problems with it and with Hoover customer service, which seems unable, or unwilling to help.
Suction power
The 12 amp motor is more than enough for most users, as the suction power provided is much more than users were expecting from it. Users warn others that for this suction power to remain the same, the filter must be cleaned after every use, or the dust will gather and seriously reduce its effectiveness.
Noise level and build quality
Users report that the noise level is not as bad as it was with previous models, and they have all gotten used to it, after a couple of uses. Unlike previous models which had serious problems regarding build quality, this model is free from them. Few users have reported problems with the plastic parts of the vacuum, however, since Hoover vacuums have started being produced in China, their build quality has dropped tremendously, as all users have noted. The filters also require periodical changing, and their price is not very low, as users have found out.
Features
The cord length is more than enough for all users, and even large rooms are easily cleaned without moving the vacuum to a different plug. Users find the Dirt Finder sensor to be excellent, and report that it really functions and knows precisely when a carpet is finally clean.
Conclusion
The Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright has not received the best of reviews, and users are quite hesitant when it comes to recommending it to others. The belt problems that plague the Self Propelled series from Hoover are present here as well, and the build quality remains low.

I am very surprised by the poor reviews for this vacuum. I love it! I have 3 large long-haired dogs and I vacuum every other day. This vacuum does a terrific job of picking up dog hair and everything else. When I first purchased it, I had just vacuumed with a Kenmore powered-agitator canister vacuum, and i was totally amazed at the amount of additional dirt and hair that the other vacuum missed, and THIS one picked up.
Yes, the dirt cup is messier to deal with than bags, however, I would much rather do this than pay the price for expensive bags. And with 3 dogs, I was going thru a LOT of bags. I have just learned to empty the dirt cup outside or in the garage instead of in my kitchen as you will want to tap the filter it to dislodge fine dirt.
I have had the vacuum for about 9 months before I replaced the self-propelled belt. The belt only cost me $2.50 and was very easy to change. I have physical disabilities and LOVE the self-propelled feature. I would not be able to vacuum without it.
Would not reccomend this vacuum!!!

Like one of the previous reviewers, I have never written a review before. I absolutely HATE this vacuum. It clogs all too often and does not have the suction my old hoover had. When dumping the canister out, the dust you have collected spills everywhere. So much for those who have allergies. Then I spent some time cleaning out the canister (I like the bag method better). My old hoover was 14 years old an sucked a lot better than this one!!! We donated the old one. Should have donated this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Replaced my Hoover that ran for 10 years...

My self propelled Hoover finally died after nearly 10 years. It never did my wrong - Great suction, attatchments were awesome, and the self propelling was the best part. When it started acting up, I didn't even think twice about the fact that I would be purchasing the exact same vacuum, just a newer model that was bagless. So I did.
It cleaned well, the day I took it out of the box. I was excited about the bagless feature and being able to empty it after each use, being that I have two very hairy dogs. I did notice right away that the self propelling didn't work (almost at all) going backwards. I was in denial that anything could be wrong with a newer version of a vcuuum I loved so dearly for so many years. So I put it in the closet, and waited for another day.
To my surprise, when I took it out it pretty much didn't work at all. I wish I were exaggerating here. When I turned the power on, the motor turned on, but the brushes refused to turn unless it was on the highest carpet setting. It barely picked up anything on this setting, as I do not have long carpet. If I put it to medium or low, the brushes refused to spin and the vacuum started to smell of burning rubber. Did I mention the self propelling didn't work?
I exchanged it for a new one, and am sorry to report the second one did the EXACT SAME THING.
I am disappointed so say the least. I will be returning this one for good. However I still have hope in Hoover and will be researching other models (and reading reviews before I buy!)in hopes of finding one that ran as wonderful as my last Hoover.
Really bad vacuum

Do yourself a favor and do NOT purchase this product. The Hoover brand has been going down hill for a while now. I remember my mother had a Hoover that lasted forever and never needed repair. Not true anymore. The last time my hoover went bad, I vowed never to purchase another one, yet stupidly decided to give them one last chance. BIG mistake. This vacuum worked extremely well the first few times I used it. After that, never again. The belts on this on have not worn out (like my old wind tunnel did constantly) but it has no suction at all, even after I have emptied and clean the cannister, cleaned and dried the filter and taken the entire hose off (keep a phillips screwdriver handy--you'll need it alot!) and unclogged every possible hose and crevice in the machine. It still will not have any suction. The accessories that are stored in the machine will fall off at random, including the tubes, and the little door on top that stores the smaller attachments opens at random as well, causing the accesories to fall out. The worst thing is I paid a hefty price for this vacuum. Well, you had your last chance Hoover, I am off to purchase a Dyson.
Shocked at these reviews

I am shocked at these reviews. I have owned this same vacuum for 4 or 5 years and have never had a problem. The suction is great and all the attachments work great. Yes you have to wash the filter every few months but it is picking up alot of dirt and gets clogged. I have never had to replace a belt. I do have to cut some hair out of the brushes about once a year but with long hair and two dogs I would have to do that with any vacuum. It is great and just hope they keep making this model.

With allergen filtration and dirt-finding capability, Hoover offers this self-propelled bagless upright vacuum. The 12-amp vacuum employs wind tunnel technology to suck deep-rooted dirt from hardwood floors and carpet alike, while stripping away dust mites, ragweed, and most grass pollen in the area air.
To ensure a clean carpet, the 15-inch wide vacuum head features a helpful headlight to illuminate soiled patches. The installed DirtFinder function assures the elimination of unseen debris, notifying users of a surface's thorough clean with a green light. The two air streams of the cleaner's wind tunnel technology succeed in cleaning the plushest carpet assisted by dual brush agitation. A custom control switch permits users to shift settings for various floor surfaces. The bagless system collects debris in sealed dual chambers, which are easily removed and emptied. The Teflon-coated HEPA filter eradicates impurities from the air. For adequate air filtration, the HEPA filter should be replaced every three years. Users tend to dirty stairs and odd-angled upholstery with a powerful hand tool. The vacuum also supplies edge grooming for baseboards. A detachable handle allows compact storage. Additional tools and accessories include two extension wands, dusting brush, upholstery nozzle, extra 20-foot hose, and hard floor brush and are stored on board for quick access. Brushes in the vacuum head cease rotating while accessories are in use to conserve energy. The power cord spans 31 feet in distance and is self-propelled in both forward and reverse motion, engaged by an action grip. Hoover offers a one-year warranty for parts and labor and will replace vacuum belts as needed for the lifetime of the appliance. The vacuum measures 40 by 16 by 10 inches and weighs 30 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling
