Are you considering purchasing a Hoover Widepath Bagless Upright? Take a second or two to read our guide, here, and decide if the Hoover U5175-900 Bagless Upright is actually the vacuum for you.
This vacuum has a headlight for showing you the area that you're cleaning, so you know exactly when to move on.
The vacuum is also easily stored, as the handle folds up, making it ready for cleaning, and once it has done it's job, the handle folds back into place, reducing the space the vacuum occupies.
The 12 amp motor provides plenty of power, and the HEPA filter ensures that all allergens and dust particles are collected from your carpets.
It has a 24 feet power cord which is more than enough for rooms of all sizes, and the large cleaning path means you have to vacuum less, to clean a large sized room, than you would with another vacuum.
The Hoover Widepath Bagless Upright has received mixed reviews from users who have had both positive and negative experiences with it, and are unsure whether it's worth the price or not.
Suction power
The 12 amp motor is more than enough for most users, as the suction power provided is much more than users were expecting from it. Users warn others that for this suction power to remain the same, the filter must be cleaned after every use, or the dust will gather and seriously reduce its effectiveness.
Noise level and build quality
Noise level is one aspect that users agree on, and the noise is considered extremely irritating by all of them. The build quality also seems to be lacking, as numerous reports of broken vacuums can be found, and users report that all the plastic parts are in danger of breaking after about a year or so. The filters also require periodical changing, and their price is not very low, as users have found out.
Features
The cord length is more than enough for all users, and even large rooms are easily cleaned without moving the vacuum to a different plug. Users also report that the headlight is really helpful, and they don't know why all vacuum manufacturers don't include one on their vacuums.
Conclusion
The Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Upright is an average vacuum cleaner, with good suction power and the option of folding it away. While better vacuums may be found, this vacuum is still one of the best in this price range.

I have had this same vacuum now for three years with NO problems.
I clean the vacuum after each vacuuming session (this involves merely emptying out the removable tray. It takes less than 40 seconds).
The air cleaning component lasts ONE YEAR, IF.....and only IF you clean it out to remove the fine carpet dust (this takes aprox ONE and a HALF minutes) every two to three months.
Also wiping the vacuum over with a cloth occasionally never killed anybody.
FIVE STARS.
HOOVER FOLD AWAY BAGLESS UPRIGHT WORKS WELL WITH SOME FLAWS

I've owned two Hoover Fold Aways.....They are powerful, easy to push, they come assembled, the belt is fairly easy to change and they are inexpensive.....Whats not so great*****if you have fringe on your rugs the vacuum may suck up thicker longer fringe and the belt will brake******* Important-you'll want to EMPTY AND WIPE DOWN THE FILTER AND FILTER CUP after every use for much better performance and a longer life for this work horse also take the filter outside and pound it against the cement weekly (depending how much you vacuum)for a longer filter life..Don't run over the chord as the brush may strip cords, but that is true with many vacuums... Its a bit loud and blows hot air out of the side but still I like this vacuum... I am so familiar with this vacuum and how it performs, I bought it twice...I'm sure there are better vacuums but I'm familiar with this model and would buy it again and again just don't let it suck up long fringe or shoe laces etc.****PS The first one I purchased still works years later...The 2nd one has no front light.. the 1st one does....
Great All Purpose Vacuum

This Hoover is a work horse. I have been using mine three or four times a week for a couple years and it is still going strong.
The biggest pro of this vacuum is definitely the wide path, this is great for vacuuming large areas of carpet. I also appreciate that it is bagless and that it is easy to empty the cylinder - just snap down the clip and the cylinder comes out, take the filter off the top and you're ready to dump the contents in to the trash with no mess.
My only con is that the attachments never really stay secure on the back of the vacuum. They always fall out or come undone. I keep the attachments stored elsewhere to avoid this hassle. Even with the attachment issue, I am still giving this Hoover five stars, it's just a great all purpose vacuum!
Don't buy this vacuum cleaner

It vacuums sure but how hard is it to do that?
The dirt cup, it could hardly be called a canister, is messy with a open hole on the bottom! that leaves a nice lil dirt path from the vacuum to the garbage can you go to empty it in. Presumably so you can find your back to the vacuum cleaner. So I guess it more like a feature huh.
The filter is a mess, hard to keep clear, very messy to clean.
Sets a record for how quickly I returned a product!

I was in a jam. My work vacuum failed, and I needed something FAST. I snagged one of these and away I went. Within 24 hours, back I came!
Pros:
* Comes fully assembled
* Nicely balanced
* Folding handle - easy to store
* Good suction
Cons:
* THE DIRT GOES RIGHT TO THE FILTER! (no, my caps lock is not stuck)
* The dirt goes right to the filter!
* Did I say the dirt goes right to the filter?
* Short power cord.
I was dumbfounded. In the filter chamber, dust and dirt filled the area around the filter, and the canister was nearly EMPTY. Hoover blew it first time out with bagless and their tall side-by-side filter/canister system, then blew it again with their Fusion series cone/cyclonic design (which I deal with daily) - and now they are at strike 3 with this design. I give up on Hoover. Recommend to a friend? I don't hate anyone that much!

For quick household cleaning, the industry leaders at Hoover offer their Fold Away Widepath Bagless Vacuum. The upright 12-amp vacuum cleans carpets with an extra wide 15-inch head. The bagless format eliminates bag waste and the financial burden of purchasing bags. With allergen filtration, the vacuum also improves an environment's air quality, stripping away dust mites, ragweed, and most grass pollen. Thus, a newly vacuumed room provides relief for sufferers of seasonal allergies like hay fever and helps minimize the discomfort for individuals with cat or dog allergies.
To ensure a clean carpet, the vacuum head features a helpful headlight to illuminate soiled patches. The vacuum addresses dirty baseboards with its brushed edge cleaning capability. Debris travels through an allergen filter into the sealed E-Z Empty dirt cup. True to its name, this dirt cap easily detaches from the vacuum body for emptying. The vacuum benefits from compact storage with its trademark handle, which folds down to minimize the vacuum's height. To tackle stairs or excessive pet hair, the vacuum comes equipped with a powerful hand-held tool. Additional accessories include an extension wand, dusting brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice wand, hard floor brush, and a triple-stretch hose. The power cord on this vacuum spans 24 feet in distance. Hoover offers a one-year warranty for this item. The pre-assembled vacuum weighs 30 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling
