The Eureka 431F Bagless Lightweight Upright Vacuum Cleaner brought to you from the house of Eureka is a lightweight, sturdy and a very practical vacuuming solution. The Eureka 431F is very easy to manoeuvre around the house and can be stored away after use in a closet without taking up too much space.
Features and Performance
Yes, this vacuum weighs just above 11 lbs. Even thought it has a lightweight construction and design, it has a 12 amp motor that provides powerful suction capabilities.
As it is a bagless design, you do not have to buy disposable bags for your vacuum. Dust collects in a dirt cup and it is very easy to empty the dirt cup.
A HEPA filtration system is very necessary to keep the surroundings in your home not just clean of dust but also virtually free of various allergy causing agents such as dust & microscopic particles, pollen and dust mites. Such a feature is a boon for people suffering from allergies.
The Eureka 431F is equipped with a HEPA filter that removes 100% of dust and 99.99% of allergy causing agents such as pet hair and dander, pollen, dust mites or other microscopic particles.
It has a unique feature called the on/off brushroll. In order to use the vacuum on carpets turn the brushroll on. In order to use it on bare floors just turn it off.
Summary
Users report good performance from the vacuum cleaner. It is a light, well built and inexpensive vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and store. However users report that its performance on hard floors was not as expected.
All in all it is a good vacuum cleaner if you have a small and carpeted home and are looking for a machine that doesn't take up a lot of storage space.

Don't Waste Your Money

My last vacuum died on me and I did not have much money to spend on a new one so I decided to get this one as it was affordable and seemed like it would work well. What a waste of money. Sure it worked good for a few days. And that was it. It does not pick up anything. I was always having to unclog the filter. Stuff would get stuck at the top around the filter and not go down causing it to lose what little suction it had. I got rid of this one and spent $30 more on a different vacuum that actually vacuums the floor.

I've owned the Eureka Optima for six months and use it all the time - 2 or 3 times a week on average. It is the perfect vacuum for my small studio and I am constantly impressed by how much dirt, dust and debris this thing picks up. I live near a very busy road so dust & dirt is my main issue, but I also use the hose function for reaching into corners and going around edges. Admittedly I do not have thick carpet, so I'm not sure how this little guy would stand up to shag rug or anything like that. What I love is its lightweight & compact frame, the bagless feature, and the bang for the very reasonable buck.
Love It!

I really love this Eureka Optima Bagless Upright! I've been needing to replace my just over 3 yr old Hoover (which by the way was easily triple the cost of the Optima) for some time but delayed due to prior Vacuum choice disappointment. I asked friends & family and then because I was made redundant at work a couple weeks ago, I had to reevaluate the decision based on price. With that said I landed on this at Target for just under $60 dollars and truly I am so happy with the size/weight, suction and price that I am calling people to rave about vacuuming!!! This is also my first bagless vac and admittedly emptying the canister and cleaning the filter after each use is an extra step, oddly I don't really mind as I am in love and thus totally non judgmental. (I actually have this super cool little brush from the dollar store that cleans the filter marvelously). I'm sure if like me, you read simple directions before operating you are not going to be disappointed.
Great Vac!!!

I purchased the Eureka Optima vac to replace a cordless Shark vac which had no suction power. The first time I used the Optima, I was amazed at it's power. You can see and hear the suction. It does a great job of picking up dog hair and other debris. Some people have complained that the exhaust blows dust around, but it doesn't - unless you use the vac completely upright. Once you tilt the vac back to use it, the exhaust blows upward. The hose works great for blinds, curtains, and upholstered furniture. I like this vac so much that I'm considering purchasing another Optima for upstairs. I highly recommend it.
Buy a Hoover instead!

I purchased this vacuum from Target for a 14' x 17' room with high quality, well-padded, low-pile carpeting. It performed poorly. It has no height adjustment; manual or otherwise. The replaceable filter will likely need cleaned frequently, and it's truly a pain to clean between the crevices of said filter. The only thing I liked about the vacuum is the round comfortable handle. After researching more, I've decided to order the Hoover Nano Light Upright Compact Vacuum (Part #: U2440900W, available only from Wal-Mart), which at the time of this review has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating from 383 user reviews. The Hoover is basically the same size and type of lightweight vacuum, only with better features as it has a permanent washable filter, and a hose that will reach 20 feet - not to mention a few HUNDRED stellar reviews.
