The Bissell 5770 Healthy Home Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner is a versatile vacuum that not just cleans, but also helps you to keep you house free of bacteria. The Bissell 5770 has a unique Microban anti-microbial coating that gets rid of disease causing bacteria, molds and mildew.
Features and Performance
Powered by a 12 amp motor, the vacuum cleaner whips up tremendous suction power using a multi-cyclonic generation system.
The vacuum has multi-surface cleaning capability with seven different head adjustments. That means that you can clean carpets of various widths, bare floors, hard top surfaces, upholstery and just about any surface that needs to be cleaned.
A HEPA filtration system is very necessary to keep the surroundings in your home not just clean but also virtually free of allergy causing agents such as dust & microscopic particles, pollen and dust mites.
Such a feature is a boon for people suffering from allergies. The Bissell 5770 is equipped with a AireTight HEPA filter that removes 100% of dust and 99.99% of allergens.
The model is equipped with a 35 foot power cord and a 15 inch cleaning head. Simply translated this means two benefits. You can carry it around anywhere in your home without having to take out the plug and put it into another socket. You also need fewer strokes to clean a given area.

Definitely not a Dyson

Reviewer: Sally,
I bought this vacuum after reading mixed reviews. To say it's heavy is an understatement. It's extremely heavy. My Dyson (which I've had for years) I can lift by the handle and by the canister which also has a handle on it. Trying to lift the Bissell to get it up stairs or over the bottom rail of the kiddie gates which lays on the floor is impossible. The canister will come off immediately in my hand if I try to use it's handle along with the main handle. That means you can only lift it my the main handle (the thing you hold to push it) and now that keeps coming off in my hand too. I've also found it doesn't pick up very well on vinyl or laminate floors, especially the little chunks of kibble my bird throws on the floor. My dyson is much better at that. This vacuum is great on carpets though. Picks up the pile and crumbs and just about everything.
I wish I had saved my money and gotten a second dyson.
Sorry I bought it

They call this the "Healthy Home" vacuum. Ironically, I end up breathing in more dust with this thing than a bagged vacuum. The canister is very difficult to empty without reaching your hand up into it and pulling the dirt and debris out, and in the meantime, inhaling UNHEALTHY dust particles. I've found it's an exercise in breath holding, seeing if I can pull out all the gunk on one breath of air. Second, the latch on the bottom of the canister broke, so the whole lid comes off every time I empty it; it takes me about 3 minutes each emptying to get it realigned and back on. Third, the handle keeps getting misaligned, so that the vacuum turns off and I have to push the handle back together to get it to work. This happens 2-3 times every time I use it. Third, the on/off switch is placed in a position such that it gets easily bumped and will shut off. Fourth, it is top-heavy, so when I am using the attachment hose, the whole thing falls over on me-very annoying, and painful. Fifth, you have to buy a very expensive filter every year or so (and I thought I would be saving money on vacuum bags!). I would NOT buy this vacuum again! I will say that it does have powerful suction, but the suction it gets does not make up for all the hassles. So, this vacuum really SUCKS!
Great Suction, Bad durability

I owned this vacuum for 2 years before the motor broke down on me. I was really upset because up until this time it had incredible suction, though it ought to weighing in at 26 lbs! I would not recommend this to people who have a 2 story house cause it's terrible carrying up and down stairs. It was a great vacuum, but for 300$ I would have expected it to last longer. I bought a refurbished Hoover windtunnel from Big Lots for $80 and I feel like I am getting the same clean. I would definitely rethink my purchase if I could do it all over again.
Big Disappointment

I bought this vacuum probably 2 years ago. I paid nearly $300 but I was very happy...AT FIRST. For the first year things were good. My complaints were that it was quite heavy and often tipped over (usually hitting me in the back) when I used the attachments. The canister was also a little messy to empty. But it really did a great job cleaning. And then it started to fall apart. First the brush seized up & would not rotate. It has some kind of internal belt, that cannot be changed like the standard vacs. I had to pay $40 to buy a new brush and spend hours taking the thing apart and putting it all back together. A month later the self propel feature stopped working. Not the end of the world. But then the canister started falling apart piece by piece. And now the think is ducked taped and bungee strapped together while I shop for my next vac. The only thing I can guarantee is that I wont be purchasing another Bissell product.
Good when it is not broken.

This did great job while it worked. Suction was good, and it cleaned well, but the canister design was terrible. Had to really work to empty it. As far as malfunctions, First we had to replace the handle because the on off button wasnt working. Next the hose ripped and we were sent a replacement. Finally the brush started making funny sounds and smelling really bad, was told by Bissell that we would need to take it to an authorized dealer. We were not too into travelling far distances to make this happen so we just bought a Dyson.
